Nerja

Entire tourist trips are organized from many places on the Costa del Sol to Nerja, because it is a nice, authentic village on the coast. And in Casa Ont-Spanje you are a 3 kilometer walk from the center.

We prefer to drive down towards the large beach (Playa el Playazo) and then walk along the beach to the village. (the direction is self-explanatory)

You can also drive to the La Puente parking lot (immediately on your right at the 2nd roundabout)

A taxi is also possible. It's only about 10 euros (so 20 euros there and back)

Frigliana

One of the most charming white villages of Andalusia and it is located near Nerja. Cross the highway and drive uphill a bit and you are already there. It is also easy to do on foot or by bike. (walk of just over an hour - uphill)

Malaga

Malaga is a 55 minute drive from Nerja and has a beautiful. lively city center with many sights. We did a city walk in the pouring rain in April 2024 and even that was fun. Below you can see the photos. The city walk is from 'Time to Momo', an app that you can download on your smartphone, but also available in book form. This walk is highly recommended. You will pass many highlights of the city and also walk past nice shops. We certainly plan to do the walk in dry conditions.

At the airport is Plaza Mayor, a shopping center with all the things you can find in Spain and an attached a Designer Outlet Centre. Nice activity if you like shopping and the weather is not so good.

Granada

Granada is about an hour's drive from Nerja. A city you should definitely visit. If you want to go to the Alhambra, don't forget to order tickets as far in advance as possible. If you only do this a few weeks in advance, you are missing out.

Granada is a beautiful city and municipality in the autonomous region of Andalusia, in southeastern Spain, and is the capital of the province of Granada. The city is located at an altitude of 738 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. With a population of 234,758 in 2016, it is the fourth largest city in Andalusia, after Seville, Málaga and Córdoba, and the 17th largest city in Spain.

Granada is rich in history and culture. It was once the capital of the Taifa Granada and the Kingdom of Granada. One of the most notable sights is the Alhambra, a historic palace full of remnants of both Moorish and Catholic culture. The old town is one of the best preserved examples of Almohad urban planning. Furthermore, Granada is known as a lively student city, with the Universidad de Granada attracting many young people1.

Cómpeta

Cómpeta is located a little further inland and is a small charming village not too far away from Nerja. (26km)
